Range To Another Range

Sight adjustment is the angle formed between the Line Of Sight and the Line Of Departure. The line of sight is what the shooter sees looking through the gun's sights (scope). The line of departure is the same as the center of the gun barrel's bore.

Sight adjustments are measured in MOA, which stands for Minute Of Angle. A full circle is divided into 360 degrees and each degree is divided into 60 minutes. Thus, there are 21,600 minutes in a full circle (360 x 60 = 21,600). A minute is a small angle, but it's exactly what's needed for gun sights.

For most loads, the zeroed range is where the bullet drops through the line of sight as shown in the above figure. To change the zeroed range we need to change the sight adjustment angle. The trick is to know how much and in what direction. Ballistic Explorer gives you those answers...
