Solving A Sample Problem

Assume you want to make some reloads for hunting using different bullets than what you have used before. One of your goals is to match the energy of a load you know does the job, but it's the energy at 400 yards that you're concerned with. The first step is to setup the traces with the new bullets you want to try as well as the load you want to match. This includes the shooting conditions you expect when and where you hunt.

Using initial muzzle velocities you can see the energy of the trace 1 (red) and trace 3 (blue) loads don't match the 400 yard energy of the load you want to match in trace 2 (green).

Trace 1 is selected as seen by the Trace 1 tab, so you are ready to change the muzzle velocity of trace 1 while monitoring it's 400 yard energy.
